If you want to install new games or software on a Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 computer, the firewall is sometimes required to be disabled.
Although Firewall helps protect the computer better, but it still seems to be not as expected. Moreover, Microsoft does not seem to satisfy customers who want to play some online games, they need to turn off the firewall.
How to control Firewall in Windows 10
Method 1: Use the Control Panel to turn off the Windows Firewall
Step 1. Click on the Start menu or press Windows + S to open search window, then enter the keyword Firewall → Now click on Windows Defender Firewall in the results.
Step 2. At this time, the Windows Firewall window will appear → click the Turn Windows Firewall option on or off in the list of options on the left as shown below.
Step 3. A new window will appear, here you can turn on / off the firewall on the Windows 10 computer.
Turn off Firewall Windows 10: You tick Turn off Windows Firewall in both Private networks and Public networks as shown below.
Turn on Windows 10 firewall: You select Turn on Windows Firewall in both Private networks and Public networks. Finally, click OK to finish.
After turn off the firewall on the computer, the interface of the feature will now look like the image below.
Method 2: Use Command Prompt to turn off Firewall Windows 10
In addition to working with an intuitive interface, you can also try using commands to control turn on or off the firewall . Usually, we use Command Prompt, you can also use Power Shell with the same command.
Step 1. Now you need to run the Command Prompt as Administrator, by pressing Windows + S → type search with the Command Prompt keyword → Right click Command Prompt => select Run as administrator.
Step 2. At this point, a command prompt will appear, do the following to enable or disable the Firewall:
Enable Firewall Windows 10: Paste the netsh advfirewall command set allprofiles state on into the command prompt window and press Enter. When OK appears, the firewall is turned on.
To make sure you can go to the Firewall to check (see method 1), the result will look like the following image.
Turn off Firewall Windows 10: Enter the netsh advfirewall command set allprofiles state off then press Enter. If OK appears below that means the Firewall has been turned off.
Now you can access the Firewall using the Control Panel to check.
